With this being said, there are several jobs that make the top of the list for the highest demand, ranging from entry-level jobs with no required education to jobs with more required skill sets and degrees. Here are the top three jobs in Arkansas for basic skills and high skills in terms of demand, according to the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services:
ENTRY-LEVEL POSITIONS:
- Fast Food and Counter Workers
At number one for this level of occupation is fast food workers, with over 7,500 annual openings for this year alone. Entry into these positions require no formal education but typically look for certain skills including, but not limited to, service orientation, enthusiasm, swiftness, and adaptability. A high school diploma or GED is often looked for as well.
- Retail Salespersons
Retail is the second highest in-demand occupation for this level of experience. It also requires no formal education in most cases, instead requesting a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent and some experience. Skills sought after for these jobs include active listening, service orientation, industry knowledge, and sales skills.
- Cashiers
Coming in third are cashiers, who are high in demand with 5,372 annual openings and also require no formal education. A diploma may be required, as well as some experience in this field. Skills that companies look for can include basic math and computer skills, service orientation, attention to detail, and positivity and energy.
ADVANCED POSITIONS:
- General and Operations Managers
The top-ranked occupation for highest demand in this area of expertise are general and operations managers, with not only many openings but also a great mean wage of over $85,000. These positions typically require at least a bachelor’s degree, also seeking experience and skills like coordination and planning, monitoring, communication, and leadership.
- Registered Nurses
Registered nurses are second for more advanced-level positions with around 2,000 openings this year. These jobs also require at least a Bachelor’s in most cases, as well as experience in the field. Additional skills desired may also include communication, great attitude, teamwork, conflict resolution, and compassion and empathy.
- Clergy
Those in clergy positions, which sits at number three for highest demand in this level of experience, also are typically required to have a bachelor’s degree –– usually in theology or a form of religious study –– with additional experience and skills like communication, speaking, active listening, service orientation, and instruction.
